VMA Analysis

MTV VMA's are for a variety of areas such as 'best male video' and 'best female video' and gets the public to vote for their favorites.

VMA's has a large target audience as it covers a range on different song genres and covers acts from different era's, not just current music.

The content of the VMA's varies, it had old music and new music but focuses on current acts like Beyonce and Lady Gaga etc. The content does vary over different genres but sticks to what is current as that is what people are most interested in. Genres range from artists that perform slow songs to rap songs, examples of this would be Adele and Lil Wayne.

Artists portray themselves how they would like to be seen at music awards shows, especially VMA's. Lady Gaga is a good example of this, as she is known for over the top outfits, and showed up dressed as a man for the show. Beyonce dressed up to show off her baby bump to announce her pregnancy. Nicki Minaj was often compared to Lady Gaga with her outfit for the VMA's as it was over the top, whereas artists lie Britney Spears who are more well known, showed up dressed normally in a black dress, rather than outfits she is normally associated with. Artists portray how they would like to be seen, for example, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga are changing their style of music, so change their image along with it.
